Working in the medium of painting and sculpture, Condo has exhibited in the United States and in Europe, and had works included in exhibitions at the Whitney Museum, New York; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston; the Guggenheim, New York; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo; Fonds National d’Art Contemporain, Salzburg; Ministere de la Culture, Paris; Museu d’Art Contemporani, Barcelona; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Kunsthalle Bielefeld in Germany and most recently at the Wrong Gallery in the Tate Modern, London.

In 2000 he was the subject of the documentary film Condo Painting, directed by John McNaughton.  In 2010, Condo created the artwork for Kanye West’s single, “Power” and West’s album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. He takes inspiration from American caricature, European history portraits as well as Greek mythological figures, often in a dark yet humorous style.

In 2011 The New Museum in New York City opened a mid-career retrospective of Condo’s work titled Mental States. The show will travel to Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, The Hayward Gallery in London and the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt.

He currently lives and works in New York City, and is occupied with investigating the genre of portraiture.
